How The Service Works
 Hi,
I'm Brett, the driving force behind Social Friends Online.
As a professional person who often travelled around the country, I often found myself in hotels in towns and cities where I knew nobody. Anybody who's been in that situation, and I know there are many of us, knows just how boring it can be to sit in a hotel bar staring into a glass, surrounded by people who are enjoying each other's company.
"If only I had some way of contacting others before I travelled", I thought. That way I could arrange to meet up with other company reps, or even locals, to enjoy a beer or two with.
Then, purely by chance, I visited a guy who lives no more than a couple of hundred yards from my own house. He'd advertised something for sale and I'd gone along to view it. Standing in his garden was a boat. "Get her on the water much?" I enquired, making small talk. "No, sadly not," he replied. "I'm a keen sea fisherman but now that I don't have anybody to fish with, it isn't as much fun".
He hadn't been out to fish for two seasons and had sold the boat just the previous week. If only I'd known about him earlier. As a keen sea fisherman myself, I'd have loved to have had somebody to spend a Sunday afternoon on the water with.
That's when the idea for Social Friends Online really hit me. Twice in a short time I'd wished I'd had a way of meeting others in the same kind of situation as myself. I couldn't be the only one - there were bound to be thousands of others out there who would benefit from some kind of service that would bring like minded individuals together.
Sure, there are plenty of dating sites, but what good are they to the likes of me? I'm happily married with two beautiful children - hardly the kind of guy you'd find on a dating site.
What if, I thought, I could get a team together and develop a service that would help people from all walks of life find others for whatever reason they may have? Dating, friendship, somebody to kick a ball about with - a one-stop site that would cover all your social needs.
The idea was put into action and after about 18 months of planning, designing and tweaking to get the service exactly how I'd envisioned it, Social Friend Online was born.
I sincerely hope that my vision will bring you together with exactly the kind of people you'd like to spend time with, regardless of why you want to meet them or what you'd like to do.
